Cool, I really hope this means people will stop saying "Wintel" now, especially in places like job descriptions (where it just looks stupid.)
- dragonwriter 6y agoBut now “Wintel” becomes a descriptive term that isn't synonymous with “Windows”, and therefore more, rather than less, useful.
- amelius 6y agoYes, and maybe we can start calling Apple computers PCs (Personal Computers), which is what they are. At least they seem more personal than my multiuser Linux desktop system.
- macintux 6y agoA few commentators have noted that it’s unfortunate we renamed microcomputers “personal computers” because clearly smartphones are much more personal.
- Gibbon1 6y agoPersonal except for that fact that you really own your smart phone in name only. Where you owned a 1980's personal computer lock stock and barrel.
