First time a government official asks facebook to remove a page?
- maratd 16y agoSecond time you post this anti-semitic garbage?
- ArabGeek 16y agoThis is not anti-semitic, it is a true news story and ironic from a government to ask facebook for censorship, plus for your info Arabs are semitic too!
- donnyg107 16y agoDon't be coy please, anti semitism is a real issue. The first and second intifadas involved bus bombings and other constant acts of terror so yes, I believe this page calls for violence. Also, I imagine you would agree that a country should be expected not to be lax about a page which calls for rallying and support toward its complete annihilation and governmental upheaval. Political leaning aside, facebook and israel have every right, and arguably responsibility, to protect the lives of hundreds of Israelis (Arab and jewish alike) by taking down a page which calls for a third round of day to day terror attacks and bus bombs.
- ArabGeek 16y agointifida is not terror the real terrorist is the state of israel which killed 10s of thousands of palestinians and took their land. If Israel was doing the right thing it should not worry for a facebook page that calls on a revolution against it. Palestinians are uprising against occupation, discrimination stealing their land and their right to live freely. All legitimate causes. On that page there is no call for violence, and even if there was, ISraeli officials call for violence against palestinians all the time in the name of self defense, so thus their pages should be deleted. But i am against deleting any page, free speech should be reserved and people choose
- xelipe 16y agoI hate to be a nerd, but I thought Arabic was a Semitic language. This has always confused me about the term.
- electromagnetic 16y agoIt's anti-the-semitics-we-like-ism.
- joe_the_user 16y agoCan we get a reference on how a page detailing an Israeli request for the removal of a Facebook page is antisemitic? You might agree with that request. Feel free to tell us why. But by calling post itself antisemitic, are you not saying that letting people know what the Israeli government is doing is, in itself, antisemitic?? Seems rather problematic...
- ArabGeek 16y agowell said :)
- donnyg107 16y agoThe problem is the claim that this page suggests no acts of violence toward the Israeli people. In fact, I'd imagine the israeli government would be quite alright with what it believed to be a peaceful palestinian rally. I don't believe they would speak up to the CEO of facebook over something they believe to be benign. This post has nothing to do with technology, and in essence encourages the encouragement of the encouragement of violence, which should not be mistaken as something purely informative. This does not follow the HN guidelines, please do not post politically charged links again.

- ArabGeek 16y agoThis post is a tech post. Facebook is a web social network, a free speech platform. not my problem if ISraeli government is political by it self. you trust the ISraeli government so much how can you be sure that it is right their is call for violence in that page? did you browse the page? it calls for peaceful protests
- hsmyers 16y agoIs there an emoticon for heavily ironic?
