  Real estate hyperinflation is probably part of the problem. You can't afford to live well in the Valley unless you've had a liquidity event. This is particularly true if you want to start a family, which chops off the population at age 30 or so. There's a great romantic myth of the twenty-something founder, and sometimes it's true, but lots of great companies founded by 30-50 age bracket people with a lot of experience under their belt too.
