VScode looks and feels native and not memory intensive
- keb_ 6y agoVSCode is certainly one of the better (if not best) Electron application out there, but it is definitely memory intensive.
- CivBase 6y ago"When I use an editor, I don't want eight extra KILOBYTES of worthless help screens and cursor positioning code! I just want an EDitor!! Not a 'viitor'. Not a 'emacsitor'. Those aren't even WORDS!!!! ED! ED! ED IS THE STANDARD!!!" Not making a point. Just couldn't resist. Context: https://www.gnu.org/fun/jokes/ed-msg.html https://www.gnu.org/fun/jokes/ed-msg.html
- zapzupnz 6y agoIt might feel native on platforms where 'native' doesn't mean anything (Windows, Linux), but the only native thing about it on macOS is the fact it has proper global menu bars — which is something provided by Electron for free. Everything else is custom.
