RIP hackintosh, it was a fun ride to show apple what was possible for the buck
- krstffr 7y agoI have been wondering about this as well, about what would happen to AMD/Intel Hackintoshes if Apple was to switch to their own processors. However, wouldn't the assumption that they would stop working also assume that all current Macs (which run Intel processors) would also stop working? Would there not have to be at least like 5 years of continued support of at least Intel processors which would also mean that Hackintoshes could keep working? Disclaimer: I do not know very much about Hackinthoses, but I have been wanting one more and more the for the last couple of months when more and more successful AMD builds have been created!
- paulcarroty 7y ago> at least like 5 years of continued support only for old CPUs. Also non-T2 chipset support probably will be discontinued too. Anyway, Hackintosh shutdown it's matter of time, 'cause Apple naturally cares about his closed ecosystem.
- mastercheif 7y agoThey're still shipping non-T2 Macs in 2020 (iMac)... They will be supported for a long time.
- abrowne 7y agoThe 2017 model MacBook Air is still available to education institutional (and probably corporate) purchasers as well.
- nutjob2 7y agoNot quite. If it come to it I'll just stay on the last supported x86 version of the OS. Personally I find OS updates just annoying these days. The new features are mostly bloat to me, stuff I have to spend time disabling when I update and reinstall every few years.
