Apt isn't going anywhere. What changed for you on the server side?
- Legogris 6y agoA couple of packages (specifically which slip my mind) that either were only available as snaps and not in the main apt repos, or had way older versions in the apt repos. At that point, there's no reason to not run debian instead.
- Kudos 6y agoI'd like to understand which packages, I've had no packages I need disappear. I'm skeptical that the packages are actually missing to favour snaps, and not simply renamed or replaced.
- Legogris 6y agoMy guess is more attention and focus on snaps and increasing neglect maintaining the deb repo.
- oefrha 6y agoJust upgraded on my non-essential home server, and apparently lxd is only available via snap now, for whatever reason. https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=lxd&searchon=names&suite=all§ion=all https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=lxd&searchon=nam...
- readwind 6y agoYou always have the ppa's, one reason, except snap, itself, that I moved. Let's hope it picks up and improves. Right.
