For those who only read the title, this is actually only setting the default quality to standard definition.
You can still watch 4k videos by changing the setting manually.
- vorpalhex 7y agoThat seems exceedingly reasonable. 4k when you need it, by a lower default.
- Dylan16807 7y ago480 instead of 720 seems a bit excessive of a first-step cutback.
- SECProto 7y agoI hope YouTube keeps this, even as a preference - I am often satisfied with 720p, and it uses less bandwidth consumption for those occasions when I am constrained.
