Apple announces new iPad Pro with trackpad support and a wild new keyboard cover
- TGMylo 7y agoI'm looking forward to this being released. I briefly tested an iPad pro and was very impressed but wished it had trackpad support so I'm definitely holding off on buying one until this comes out.

- Octoth0rpe 7y ago> [the keyboard alone] will cost a whopping $299 for the 11-inch model and $349 for the 12.9-inch version. Oof. I think most apple products are fairly priced (especially their ios products), that's pretty exceptional. IIRC, you can regularly pick up the 9.7" ipad for $299. It's hard to imagine the R&D, materials, and other misc costs (marketing, etc) and even a generous markup would exceed even $150 for the keyboard, let alone twice that.
- rock_artist 7y agoThe suffix Pro by itself makes any Apple product price more expensive.
- sebazzz 7y agoI sincerely wonder if Apple would just test how much they can ask for their products.
- romanovcode 7y agoWhy do they have to make this horrible camera pop-out? It means that you cannot place the iPad comfortably on the table to write on it. I cannot understand it - to me it is horrible, horrible design, I like to think that Steve Jobs would never allow such a garbage product decision. Why would you need a powerful camera on iPad anyway?

- Luc 7y ago> Why do they have to make this horrible camera pop-out? My conclusion is that you're meant buy a case (which is super profitable for them).
- LeifCarrotson 7y agoI don't think it would be better to have a worse camera. You can't fit much camera at all in 5.9mm anyways, and cameras are useful. What would be better is if the whole thing were as thick as required by the camera module - a "whopping" 8mm or so. You could use this difference to make it stiffer and more durable (it's going to be uncomfortably weak to hold at 5.9mm), to add more battery capacity, or to improve the thermal performance.
- throwaway55554 7y agoYou had me up until "Steve Jobs would never...". I mean, at what point are we going to let the man rest?
