"They have a million tests out now. They're going to have, over the next few days, they're going to have 4 million tests out. And frankly, the testing has been going very smooth." Trump, today
"The idea of anybody getting it easily, the way people in other countries are doing it, we're not set up for that. Do I think we should be? Yes. But we're not. That is a failing. It is a failing. Let's admit it." Dr. Anthony Fauci, today
The president of the United States cannot be trusted.
- netsharc 7y agoThe one little upside of this outbreak (plus how relatively not-deadly it is, you and I will probably get it but survive), is watching Trump squirm. He probably thought his speech would stop the market sell-off, but nope. And he and his admin have institutionalized Dunning-Kruger that they probably couldn't even see how badly the speech would be received.
- cmurf 7y agoUnfortunately, it is quite a lot worse than this, if today's Politico reporting is accurate, that Trump intentionally did not want more testing, to keep the reported number of infected low, to make him look like he's doing a good job, and increase his re-election chances. https://twitter.com/nprfreshair/status/1238186469690429440 https://twitter.com/nprfreshair/status/1238186469690429440 https://www.npr.org/2020/03/12/814881355/white-house-knew-coronavirus-would-be-a-major-threat-but-response-fell-short https://www.npr.org/2020/03/12/814881355/white-house-knew-co... If true, it's not politics. It's unethical and immoral, it is a dereliction of duty and oath to protect people.
- bradknowles 7y agoNope. It’s outright murder. Premeditated. With malice aforethought. Perhaps even on the scale of genocide.
- speedplane 7y ago> if ... accurate, that Trump intentionally did not want more testing, to keep the reported number of infected low, to ... increase his re-election chances. ... it's not politics. It's unethical and immoral... I'm no fan of Trump, but that's loading on too much. It's just bad instincts and leadership, no one could know how this would unfold.
- krageon 7y ago> no one could know Did we not have a big example already? Anyone who didn't know is in a literal coma.
