But lactose-tolerance is also found non-contiguously in the world, and you'll have a real hard time finding discrete "groups" defined by skin melanin rather than a spectrum. Genetic lactose tolerance exists; genetic contributions to skin color exist; these are facts---but your interpretation of them is interpretation, and that you can't see it as such is sort of the author's point.

- dekhn 7y agolactose tolerance occurs outside of europe, sporadically, but nearly always in populations that subsisted on animal milk, or obtained the gene through european parents. one thing you'll learn in genetics is that it's all statistics; not all europeans are lactose tolerant, and not all africans are lactose intolerant. But the trends are consistent with natural selection via multiple experimental methods.
- kixiQu 7y agoone thing you may yet learn in genetics is that it doesn't take pains to correspond to your social constructs. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1893020/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1893020/
