Orbit – open-source design system
- phkahler 7y agoSeriously, what is it? What's a "travel project"?
- optimuspaul 7y agoI would assume a project somehow related to travel. Seems fairly self-explanatory, especially if you look at what it contains.
- notlukesky 7y agoWell put.
- samschooler 7y agoI suspect it means anything related to the travel space. So: ticket website, travel recs, Airbnb clone, tour website, etc.
- ssss11 7y agoFrom the About page, it seems this is an open sourced UI library built by the developers of kiwi.com which apparently creates travel products (still unsure what that is). So the UI components are geared towards a travel product type of website. So its a UI library, theres probably travel niche lingo and components in it.
- starkd 7y agoWith the images of rockets, it made me think of outer space. Doubt that's really there target audience, but still rather confusing.
- evv 7y agoSome of the components are delightfully specific to the travel industry: https://kiwicom.github.io/orbit-components/?path=/story/airportillustration--playground https://kiwicom.github.io/orbit-components/?path=/story/airp... https://kiwicom.github.io/orbit-components/?path=/story/deprecated-tripsector--multiple-days https://kiwicom.github.io/orbit-components/?path=/story/depr...
- pottertheotter 7y agoThe website is responsive, but the page is wider than my screen. I have to scroll horizontally to see everything. Not very encouraging for a design system.
- glenngillen 7y agoI viewed it in portrait on my phone and was surprised how usable it was. The default display mode isn’t great, but there’s tabs/nav at the bottom to let you see the component canvas or demo and then switch back to the component list.
