- EugeneOZ 7y agoIt just says that web apps can't steal enough data from your phone.
- xenihn 7y agoBut RN apps are not web apps...?
- bonestamp2 7y agoTricky question. They start as web apps since they're built with mostly web technologies, but then they're compiled as native apps with native components and they don't run in the browser. So, I'd lean towards "no" -- they're not web apps at runtime.
- robertoandred 7y agoReact Native apps do not use web technologies.
- solarkraft 7y agoThat depends on what you include in your definition of web technologies. React and Javascript at this point mostly fall under mine.
- bonestamp2 7y agoI guess we can agree to disagree -- I consider JavaScript a web technology.
- htormey 7y agoReact Native is widely used in both Instagram and the main Facebook app (market places). It’s also used in a number of other apps they make (oculus, ads manager).
- apl002 7y agothis is the dumbest take on here. You think that because Facebook hasn't rewrote their apps in RN that RN must suck? What kind of evaluation for software is that. They haven't rewrote in RN because it's unnecessary. Its not worth the engineering resources. There is so many things on the global product roadmap to build then rewrite something that already exists and works fine. Like all software, RN is great for certain use cases. Just because someone isn't using it for X doesn't mean it also sucks for Y.
