Here's a deck from the convicted con artist Anna Delvey, https://www.are.na/block/2250665 https://www.are.na/block/2250665
The strongest slide is the team, which includes 2 PhDs, and an MIT research scientist.
- dpflan 7y agoWhat happened with this company and pitch?
- dblock 7y ago4-12 years, https://www.thecut.com/2019/05/anna-delvey-sorokin-sentenced-to-prison-after-trial.html https://www.thecut.com/2019/05/anna-delvey-sorokin-sentenced...
- gefh 7y agoOhhh, that Anna Delvey! I remember her from this long form article, well worth anyone's time: https://www.thecut.com/2018/05/how-anna-delvey-tricked-new-york.html https://www.thecut.com/2018/05/how-anna-delvey-tricked-new-y...
- hangonhn 7y agoDid they know they were on her team?
- Traster 7y agoPut this next to the old Softbank pitch deck, take the company names off and I bet you people wouldn't be able to figure out which was fake.
- fortran77 7y agoPeople really want to believe in a "Female Steve Jobs." I think one key to a successful scam today is a female CEO.
- jacquesm 7y agoThis should not be downvoted. It is definitely a factor, just not quite in that way. Founder diversity is a thing and female CEO will get you funded in some cases where a male CEO would not. There is a huge push to level between males and females and in some cases the balance is shot through to the other side and critical thought loses out over the gender balance thing.

- jacquesm 7y agoThat's not in any way contradicting what I wrote. Yes, men are much more likely to obtain funding than women. But, in some cases women are funded when men would be passed over with the same idea. It's similar to affirmative action.
- aty268 7y agoThis is very very true.
- ch 7y agoDon't investors ever ask to meet the team first? Seems like a fair ask if one is to invest.
