- baobabKoodaa 7y agoA phone thief may theoretically spend a few months to unlock your phone, but in practice they won't.
- have_faith 7y agoWhen an exploit is leaked and turned into software that can run on commodity hardware then the thief might only have to spend a few minutes.
- faeyanpiraat 7y agoTime also helps, because the software on the phone stops getting the fresh security fixes.
- fastbeef 7y agoAny other third party with funding on the level of FBI
- michaelt 7y agoSo long as the reports are "FBI can unlock iPhones by unknown means" we don't know the cost to execute the exploit. Just because the FBI pay $$$$ per unlock, doesn't mean the marginal cost to the supplier is $$$$, that could just be GrayKey trying to cover the $$$$$$$ they paid for an exploit, and make some profit.
- mlang23 7y agoSo, I recommend, just dont loose your shit... Besides, the typical thief aims to resell the hardware. They dont care about the pics you have of your gf...
- urbanjunkie 7y agoLearn English and fuck off you autistic loser.
- roydivision 7y agoThis is the point. Third party being foreign government, or eventually your own government. You may not have anything to hide, but you’re only one law away from what constitutes ‘something to hide’.
