How is this topic political?
- liamcardenas 7y agoBecause positions on the topic are highly correlated with political affiliation
- thenewnewguy 7y agoIn the US many (most?) prominent members of the Republican Party (our right wing/conservative political party) deny the existence of global warming/climate change.
- turk73 7y agoWhether or not it is real, I am not going to allow a bunch of communists to set up shop and dictate to me and coerce me down some path of their choosing. Instead, I would rather we just shoot them or throw them out of helicopters and be done with their kind even if that means the human race has to go extinct. The entire left has gone insane and thinks they are going to build some kind of 1000 year Reich on the back of environmental policy in America in order to permanently force their bullshit down our throats. I don't care if they are right about climate change or not, I am simply not going to live in a Chinese-style totalitarian world. Furthermore, the Soviets and East Germans had the worst environmental record of any political body in history. If we want to have measured responses to the issues facing us that will be fine. No more communists, though. Not ever again. I am keeping all of my rights.
- gremlinsinc 7y agolol, the dead comment on this thread. I mean could you prove a point better? "I'd rather the world end from negligence rather than let damn commies take over and create a 3rd reich...." because socialism resembles fascism... and especially democratic/norwegian style socialism ~>sarcasm.
- fwsgonzo 7y agoThere was a NYtimes article showing that the denialism has been happening in all three english speaking countries: US, England and Australia, because of brainwashing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/08/world/australia/fires-murdoch-disinformation.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytclimate https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/08/world/australia/fires-mur... Of course, nobody wants to hear they are the useful idiot that fell for it, but we can't let that stop us from pointing out reality. As far as the Republican party goes, I'm sure there are many who do believe in climate change, however they have to fall in line and so they will not speak up. The Republican party is known for presenting a "unified" message.
- toasterlovin 7y agoBecause responding to climate change (or not), will necessarily entail a political process.
- imtringued 7y agoBecause nobody listens to the scientists. You have two sides where one side thinks we should sacrifice (all) economic growth for the sake of the planet and another that thinks we should sacrifice the (entire) planet for economic growth. The future will hopefully look nothing like either of them. We should find a healthy balance between the two and that means we need a self regulating system and preferably it should resemble something we already have. Landfills charge for disposing of garbage so why not charge for atmospheric pollution? It already exists and is called the Kyoto Protocol.
- Scarblac 7y agoIf it's not, how come political parties have viewpoints on whether or not AGW is real?
