Your question presupposes that the main reason for Java's widespread adoption was that it runs in a VM. That is not true. Java as a language was designed to be significantly more productive than C++ in the context of enterprise software development, regardless of whether its compiled or not.
- ncmncm 7y agoIndeed, Java is more productive, if you count lines of code produced per day, which is always easier than counting actually useful features produced. "The context of enterprise software development" has to be the euphemism of the century.
- Jimmy123456789 7y agoI was a C++ developer for years. Now working with Java and I am definitely more productive with it. It doesn't require more lines than C++, and is much more straightforward to deal with.
