DC Metro is “heavy rail”.
What exactly the difference between heavy rail and light rail is a matter of debate in some cases but I don’t think there’s any dispute that DC Metro or NY Subway is heavy rail.
- Scoundreller 7y agoI think heavy rail needs to meet FRA (Fed railway admin) standards. Including things like handling .22cal bullet standards against their glass and other crash tests.
