My 16 mile commute is quickest on my ebike.
Car = 35-40 minutes on average, sometimes more.
eBike = 30-35 minutes consistently.
The reason - bikes can 'filter' up to a set of lights, whereas a car in heavy traffic might take 2 or 3 rotations of the light to make it through a junction.
- Scoundreller 7y agoDon’t forget about those “no left turn” intersections where you can suddenly turn into a pedestrian.
- outworlder 7y agoYup, the ability to transform into a pedestrian is underrated.
- earthboundkid 7y agoIn Europe, this is strictly forbidden though, which is the one negative to their vastly safer infrastructure.
- anonymouz 7y agoYou can't bike across the crosswalk, but you can get off your bike, step onto the sidewalk and walk your bike across the pedestrian crossing.
- syrrim 7y agoForbidden how? Getting off your bike to cross the street?
- earthboundkid 7y agoIn Copenhagen at least there are rules for when you can turn left on your bike: http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/07/not-really-so-great-cycle-path-design.html http://www.aviewfromthecyclepath.com/2010/07/not-really-so-g... I don't know how other European cities do it.
