Unrelated, but annoying: How does FOX get around the autoplay protection of Firefox on Desktop? I have blocked all AutoPlay and yet the annoying video starts playing.
- heyflyguy 7y agoI use the Brave browser due to these kinds of things
- ossworkerrights 7y agoIdk, I use Chrome, works like a charm.
- jannes 7y agoNo idea, but it seems to be using Akamai Player: https://player.akamai.com/ https://player.akamai.com/ It seems to have an event called "autoplayblocked": https://developer.akamai.com/tools/AdaptiveMediaPlayer/docs/web/tutorial-04-autoplay.html https://developer.akamai.com/tools/AdaptiveMediaPlayer/docs/...
- Rychard 7y agoIt doesn't autoplay for me (using Firefox 70.0) In fact, in my console there's a message that says this: "Autoplay is only allowed when approved by the user, the site is activated by the user, or media is muted."
- jannes 7y agoI get the same message about 6 times in the console as well, but in the end it seems to start playing anyway.
- Santosh83 7y agoThe entire video loads but Firefox does block it from playing. Am on version 70 and have disabled autoplay as well. But I've come across other sites that are somehow able to play a video even with autoplay blocked.
- nfRfqX5n 7y agoi think it's blocked until you interact with something on the page, even if it's not the video
