Americans have whiskey and Scots have whisky
Ahem, the Irish had whiskey a thousand years before Americans.
- avip 7y agoYes. In fact The word Whiskey comes from the Gaelic usquebaugh, which means "Water of life". ... and I know this priceless piece of trivia because the Clancy brothers mention it in the intro to Finnegans Wake.
- OJFord 7y agoThey're a lot of the same people!
- bagacrap 7y agoWhich country has more citizens of Irish heritage?
- AllegedAlec 7y agoThe one where they don't dress up in green and drink irresponsibly one day of the year. Nobody likes plastic Paddies.
- sodosopa 7y agoHyphenated Paddies.
- tzs 7y ago> Ahem, the Irish had whiskey a thousand years before Americans Not to be overly pedantic, but it was actually only around 700 years. Irish whiskey was first produced in the 12th century, and the first Kentucky whiskey is from the late 18th century.
