A new memory profiler for Linux written in Rust
- codetrotter 7y agoAuthor of the tool talks a bit about it at https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/bq64xw/a_new_memory_profiler_for_linux_from_nokia/ https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/bq64xw/a_new_memory_p...
- miohtama 7y agoLooks like it is made by Nokia. My lucky guess is that they probably use it for base station diagnostics and debugging.
- panpanna 7y agoThis seems to be Nokia's version of 20% projects. He said this is used for long running tasks @ Nokia so you are probably right.
- pjmlp 7y agoThe old Nokia had not such things.
- solarkraft 7y agoAs they show the new Nokia phones on the website, I suppose it's definitely not the part that belongs to Microsoft now. But which is it? HMD Global? Another Nokia?
- ChrisSD 7y agoMicrosoft hasn't owned anything Nokia since 2016. This is Nokia (the company), which licenses Nokia (the phone brand) to HMD global. They are two separate companies that happen to share a building. And some former employees from Nokia (the company) now work at HMD global. I hope that's clear.
- kingosticks 7y agoAnd just to add, there are parts of Nokia (the company) who have absolutely nothing to do with phones. Edit: although this guy is from Mobile Networks, which is related to mobile phones!
- richardwhiuk 7y agoHe's from the infrastructure part of the Nokia (i.e. what was NSN - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_Networks https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_Networks), rather than selling handsets part of Nokia.
