I have a friend who just started working on the assembling of these satellites and they are hiring like gangbusters. I was initially dubious that they would be able to make their number goal but they have people working 6 days a week 16 hour days to scale up to this goal. 4000 is a huge amount of things to build that you can shoot on top of a rocket. Not sure the longevity of the hardware.
- nradov 7y agoPeople working 96 hour weeks deliver shitty quality.
- mrep 7y agoI'm pretty sure he meant the production line is running 96 hours a week. They probably have it split between 2 shifts so each person is only running the line half the time.
- danielcampos93 7y ago2 shifts but the push is def to have people work more hours. Seems the main goal is figuring out how to make all the satellites with relatively unskilled staff(relative to satellite building. prior to this my friend worked at a bike shop and construction and has a BS in physics).

If they were progressing according to schedule, with buffer for unexpected events, surely people would be working sane and sustainable work weeks?
- danielcampos93 7y agoThey started with this schedule even before they had full public approval.
