How can China get away with this? Why can't United Nations do anything about Uyghur concentration camps?

The UN is currently trying to get people on the ground to investigate. [1] Whether they can do anything about it is another story entirely.   I read from the article UN is still seeking access to China. That sounds dumb. I mean we're talking about concentration camps here. Didn't Nazis teach us any lesson

For the same reason the UN does nothing about our/british/french illegal wars all over the world or the russian wars or annexation of crimea. China is a permanent veto wielding member of the UN Security Council like US, Britain, France and Russia. Besides, what do you want the UN to do? The UN does more harm than good everywhere it is involved. The US and the EU are the only political entities that has influence in china. But unfortunately, the US and Europe has a long history of backing/funding/arming separatists in china ( particularly tibet and xinjiang ), so that's not an option. Especially considering that europe is behind much of the separatist activity in xinjiang.

  It's a place for the governments of the world to talk and resolve any issue before it becomes a war. That looks exactly like a social club. And yes, it's toothless by design. But it's not useless.
