On macOS: still waiting for interactions with the address bar to be smooth and fast. It's frustratingly laggy in my opinion. Does anyone else feel this way? For me it's the only reason I still gravitate towards Chrome on a Mac.
- reticulated 8y agoAppears performant to me on a 2015 MBP. What's the use case in which you see problems?
- xrisk 8y agoHave this same problem. 2015 rMBP. The FF UI feels so much more laggy than Chrome/Safari.
- abrowne 8y agoAIUI, Mozilla is rewriting the address bar ("QuantumBar"), and you can now toggle it on in Nightly by setting browser.urlbar.quantumbar to true in about:config. I've only tried it on Linux, but it seems smoother.
- Leace 8y agoThanks for the pointer, the toggle works in stable too but the smoothness you describe just isn't there yet :)
- pbhjpbhj 8y agoWhen did the "Awesome Bar" become the "Quantum Bar", what's the difference, and why can't they call it the "address bar" (yes despite it being overloaded with other functions)?
- abrowne 8y agoIt's this rewrite specifically that's called QuantumBar.
- elven_lord 8y agohave this exact same problem on my 2015 rMBP, switching between tabs quickly is hideous.
