You should never be a dog owner. If you can't be there for them, you do not have them. I feel sorry for the dog, not you!

- mial 8y agoYes. Also this > Sara and I will welcoming a new puppy from the same breeder in February—Rory Just go and get one from a shelter instead of encouraging animal breeding which is an unethical practice [0] [0] https://www.peta.org/issues/animal-companion-issues/pet-trade/breeders/ https://www.peta.org/issues/animal-companion-issues/pet-trad...

- senderista 8y agoBy the same logic, no one should have biological children as long as there are children in need of adoption. I think that's actually a defensible position, but it's a pretty extreme one nonetheless.
- Dylan16807 8y agoNobody can provide 24/7 care, so I hope your judgement is that nobody should be a dog owner. Otherwise you're just being a judgmental jerk.
- black-tea 8y agoYou should have enough time to take the thing out of your house a couple of times a day.
- Dylan16807 8y agoMaybe you do! But you also want the dog to get a walk in the middle of the workday.
- on_and_off 8y agoSadly that's why I don't have a dog. I just love dogs, especially large ones. While growing up, there has always been a dog with me. At the time I was living in the countryside so they always had lots of space and could go inside or outside as they pleased. Now as an adult living in San Francisco, I just don't see how I could have a dog. Keeping the animal inside a small space almost all the time sounds very cruel. So I might have a dog again in 10 or 20 years if I move to the countryside .. but probably not before that.
