Not to mention, most men wore top hats in those times.
- nradov 8y agoMost men wore some kind of hat outdoors, but top hats were already mostly out of style by that time and worn only with formal attire.
- dan-robertson 8y agoConsidering how choice of hat signaled class I think you would find that most men did not wear top hats when these pictures were taken. If you look at the pictures in the article, few people are wearing hats and no one is wearing a top hat. I think top hats were also going out of fashion before and during the war.
