>If you think the US is erratic, check out how China bullies its neighbours and always seeks to control the infrastructure of the countries that supply it with raw materials it needs.
I see you've ignored nearly the entire Middle East and what the USA has done almost everywhere in the world throughout its history.
- theandrewbailey 8y agoUSA doesn't go around giving loans to build infrastructure in countries that have no realistic way of paying them back, then leasing said infrastructure back. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magampura_Mahinda_Rajapaksa_Port https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magampura_Mahinda_Rajapaksa_Po...
- adventured 8y ago> I see you've ignored nearly the entire Middle East and what the USA has done almost everywhere in the world throughout its history. Everywhere in the world throughout its history? That's a pretty amusing statement, given the US barely left its shores for the first 140 years of its history. The US didn't even have a serious standing military until after WW1, and more realistically just before WW2. Demonstrably the US has done dramatically more good in the world than it has ill. In the era of the US superpower, the world has never been better off. It's just as absurd to ignore the vast good the US has been responsible for, as it is to ignore the mistakes it has made.
- prolikewh0a 8y ago>Demonstrably the US has done dramatically more good in the world than it has ill. So having killed way more innocent people than Hitler, Stalin, Lenin could've ever imagined, hundreds of years of slave trades & slavery, creating slave trades in Libya now, plenty of illegal wars killing millions (even just since WW1!), dumping chemical weapons and viruses over Canada for testing purposes, the only nuclear detonations on civilians ever. The list goes on and on and on. I see the US as the most evil country that has ever existed, by far. Its good far outweighed by the bad. I think you're ignorant about the realities of US intervention and merciless killing around the world for nearly its entire existence in pursuit of power and capital.
- tracker1 8y agoThe U.S. didn't create slavery, and hasn't had it for over a century. BTW, slavery STILL exists in many of those parts of the world. If you see the US as the most evil country that has ever existed, you are either ignorant, stupid or a fool. Personally, I'd much rather see the U.S. withdraw a significant amount of military support throughout the world. Let 'em all burn. But that does very little to help anyone. Communist and Muslim genocidal actions have killed far more than the US ever has. And while the U.S. drone strikes over the past two decades are imho deplorable, they still don't come close.
- prolikewh0a 8y ago>BTW, slavery STILL exists in many of those parts of the world. We know it still exists and one example is at the fault of the USA there is now open slave trade in Libya [1]. We also still have legal slavery in our prison system as a law. 500,000 dead in Iraq due to illegal wars, laughed at and claimed as 'good' [2]. Cambodia, Laos, Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Korea, Libya, the list doesn't end! The world would likely be a much better place if the USA didn't have it's fingers in everything, everywhere, nearly every country, killing people in mass, all around the world for decades [3][4]. The first chapter, the preface even, of Noam Chomsky's 'Manufacturing Consent' goes into extraordinary detail about USA's history of genocide and atrocities all around the world, and it's all totally sourced in full. I suggest everyone read it. I've seen estimates between 6 million and 20 million killed by USA in wars since WW1, and that's only by war and conflict, most absolutely provoked by the USA. - tracker1 8y agoEven at 20 million, that barely matches Russian casualties in WWII alone [1]. let alone India's deaths from Muslim populations (est 400+ million)[2]. Let alone the hundred million+ killed under Communist regimes [3]. And many of these acts occurred when the planet had far fewer people in it. I'm not saying that U.S. foreign involvement is a total good, but it's far from the worst country in human history. Also, are you saying that the U.S. is forcing Libyans to have a slave trade? That the people there have no choice in the matter? [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties_of_the_Soviet_Union https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties_of_the...
