Putting aside Bill Cosby's disgusting crimes, why does bail exist still? Either everyone should be offered stringent, high tech house arrest, or everybody should be whisked straight away to jail. Any other situation is arbitrary and subjective, and leaves the opportunity open for someone to say there are racist, sexist, or celebrity motives that influenced the decision, other than "he is a heinous individual and he must be detained from society".
