Pretty cool. I'd love to see an updated version with SDI or HDMI I/O rather than composite video.

- laveur 8y agoSame. Suppesedly you can find the schematics and board files some place so it should be possible to build your own if you are ambitious enough....
- analognoise 8y agoAt that point, there are a number of existing competent development boards that already exist.
- rjsw 8y agoThe components of the design can be retargeted at a different FPGA board, pick one with the I/O you need.
- brian-armstrong 8y agoThat's the easy part, but you'd still need to re-do the HDL to include the appropriate controller, and then make sure it has enough memory bandwidth to drive said controller. Most likely it'd be a significant rewrite.
- sb10q 8y agoOriginal developer here. Really surprised it got posted on HN today and that the comments are quite positive. We're not working this anymore, though the original code evolved into other projects like ARTIQ. Today for video there is the Numato Opsis, that has been developed by another group and with "forked" firmware/gateware: https://numato.com/product/numato-opsis-fpga-based-open-video-platform https://numato.com/product/numato-opsis-fpga-based-open-vide... They also have a Milkymist I/O expansion board, but AFAIK they did not port all the Milkymist graphics code to the Opsis: https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB-TOFE-Milkymist https://github.com/timvideos/HDMI2USB-TOFE-Milkymist
