How can I watch this YouTube video using just my terminal?
- bane 8y agoheh, this is actually covered in the video.
- dilatedmind 8y agoI didn't watch the video but you could use youtubedl and then ffmpeg to display it on the framebuffer
- pvg 8y agoon the framebuffer What manner newfangled luxury is that in a terminal? When I was young, we had to pick lice out of our hair and arrange them in the form of letters for others to read.
- Fnoord 8y agoIf you call something (watching videos/pictures or browsing in a framebuffer) which has been working since the end of '90s "new" then you've grown old. A while ago, if I might add. And the ability to use a CLI on a large say 1280x1024 resolution was nice as well, given the dots per inches on CRTs in late 90s.
- pvg 8y agoSome people would kill the lice first but sophisticated users preferred live ones which enabled advanced effects like 'dynamic text' and 'escape sequences'.

- merraksh 8y agoThis will display the video as ASCII art: vlc -V aa <youtube link> For color ASCII he suggests vlc -v caca <youtube link>

- gnulinux 8y agoUse a framebuffer application e.g. mplayer.
