Just stop using it. Its really not that hard. A few years back when it was hard to share content or easily get good feeds of what your friends were doing, sure it made some sense. At this point, why?
- overthemoon 8y agoPeople say this constantly, and it baffles me. Facebook has grown to the point that it's hard to avoid. Sure, don't use it, or do, but it's become a fixture in most people's lives and has to be reckoned with as such. Sure, I guess you could opt out of it, just like you could not use Amazon, or Wal-Mart, but it doesn't change the value of the ranking system, or their shitty data collection. "Just go somewhere else" is a deflection, and a poor one at that. If they're doing it, other companies are doing it. In addition to being a conversation about Facebook in particular, this is also a conversation about whether or not it's right for anyone to do it, and where it might get adopted elsewhere. Finally, it's impossible to ignore the fact that Facebook is a massively influential media presence, and "just go somewhere else" has nothing to do with it.

But for me and many of the people I know, it's easy to avoid and not use it. You just don't go to the site or use the app. No problem.
- DoctorOetker 8y agolike he says it's really not that hard. Also real human contact is so much more enjoyable than a couple of characters with zero intonation or facial expression (emoji nonsense is way too low bitrate)
