I would argue that if a solution is more expensive or harder to maintain, it is not simpler. Teleologically speaking, being simpler is a bigger umbrella which covers many facets of the intended solution.
- Dylan16807 8y agoI don't think "more expensive" is a valid criterion. When you replace a big chunk of metal with 20 carefully-designed parts that come out to be a third of the price, you have not made things simpler. Even if it comes out as equally difficult to maintain.
