- baxtr 8y agoThis is super annoying. Medium has been the worst so far in my opinion (top bar and open in app below take a lot of screen real estate)
- pbhjpbhj 8y agoReddit finally got me to stop visiting by badgering at every opportunity to use the app.
- maxk42 8y agoLinkedIn is coming close for me.
- stevenwoo 8y agoI've been using RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) to view reddit on firefox for a long while, didn't realize there was a reddit app.
- _asummers 8y agoThere's a toggle to make them stop asking that in the settings, but getting rid of Reddit is better than turning that on, so kudos :)
- notatoad 8y agoThe medium nag-badge has got me to do the same thing. i don't click links on HN anymore if they are going to a medium blog. hopefully we aren't the only ones being annoyed by this, if those badges are effective they aren't going away any time soon.
- mrisoli 8y agoAs someone who's had to implement one of those nagging popups(and argue with marketing 'growth hackers' about it) I can tell they are unfortunately effective, and it's more likely to see more of them in future. Everyone is annoyed, but many of those who are annoyed will just follow the instructions and increase the metric of whoever wanted those .
- urda 8y agoMedium has been pissing me off with a push to sign up and the "Pardon the interruption." popup spam. Good god, no I don't want a medium account and will not want a medium account thank you.
- jacquesm 8y agoThe hilarious part about that is that when medium launched everybody was falling over themselves to say how this was the future of blogging because of the pretty fonts and the lack of annoying screen real estate consuming extras. That popup is a monstrosity.
- urda 8y agoHonestly medium can't die fast enough IMO.
- _asummers 8y agoDon't forget about when it asks you to share the highlighted text! I've disabled that with some Chrome extension, thankfully, but haven't figured out the popup yet.
- ohtwenty 8y agoGod, I hate that highlighted text, because it's always some faux-deep quote that just pisses me off. Like I might have appreciated it if it weren't for that stupid highlighting making it look like it's a teenager stopping halfway through a presentation to look at you and make sure that you caught he said something intelligent. I get irrationally angry at that highlighting. BTW ublock origin might be able to block the popup, if you right click -> block element
- iaml 8y agoDisabling JS gets rid of this and popup. Add in a display:none for the leftover sticky footer, and you can finally read in peace.

- lnanek2 8y agoThat definitely hurts my experience as well. I even tried having the app installed for a bit, but that shoved stuff on the screen I didn't want as well. I guess they are under business pressure to show you more than the content in order to make money...
- taneq 8y agoYeah, I stopped using imgur on mobile when they released the new mobile site. Completely destroyed the experience plus it flogs my battery. No ty.
