I think even if there were convergent evolution in phenotype, the DNA and underlying proteins would likely be very different.
- dekhn 8y agoWell, there are functional constraints on binding iron, right? There would probably be some residues- spread throughout the protein- that in its 3D folded form, would have a similar orientation to allow for heme binding and controlled release.
