I would check out this app called “the telephone”. They say it was invented in 1876 and that local businesses answer them. When I use the app, I receive near instant feedback. There is even full-duplex voice recognition.
- mattfrommars 9y agoI didn't articulate my post correctly. Local businesses, always call. Social events, I always contact via online media. Usually, Facebook.
- rock_hard 9y agoI hate phone calls! It’s worse than any notification I have ever gotten. Additionally the only calls I get these days are spam anyways :( It baffles me that we ever thought it’s acceptable for any person to just call you whenever they pleased...it’s such a intrusive and awkward medium. I would never go back to that and 100% happy with Facebook, email, etc
- pvdebbe 9y agoProtip: you can call businesses but you don't have to answer any calls from numbers you don't know or approve. This is a nice balance that I maintain. I used to be phone-shy but at some point I just realised that it's usually the fastest way to get the answers or service I look for.
- rock_hard 9y agoThe phone rings anyways though...and they keep trying relentlessly
- pvdebbe 9y agoYeah, I hate that too.
- Chaebixi 9y agoYou can always mute your phone and join the national do-not-call registry to cut down on the calls.
- pixl97 9y ago>join the national do-not-call registry to cut down on the calls. Buwahahahaha. Yea, like that stops the car warranty and health insurance spammers that fake the caller ID of a local number from ringing you 3 or 4 times a day.
- Chaebixi 9y agoIt's not going to stop everyone, but it will stop some of them. I've been on it for years, and I only get a handful of calls a year from telemarketers (which tend to be the unscrupulous caller-id spoofing kind).
- pbhjpbhj 9y agoAsynchronicity is a benefit to me of messaging systems, small businesses (I'm part of one) are more responsive via SMS or Facebook because it's easier to be so. Most calls to us go to answerphone, many times we return a call and get a voicemail service, ... that gets tiresome fast. With POTS we have to keep contacts separate, with a meeting service contract retention and interaction history - which improve customer service - are built in.
