Vancouver would like a word with you. Foreigners were buying homes sight unseen to park cash. Vancouver passed a foreign buyer luxury tax for those who arent living in their homes full time... and Lo and Behold! Sales decreased a ton and things have been cooling down.
- gorkish 9y agoI believe this is a much better solution to the problem, but I don't think it should have anything to do with whether or not a buyer is a foreigner.
- scott_karana 9y agoI agree. Speculative land purchasing by wealthy boomers at the expense of their (grand)children is just as bad and much more common.
