  You didn't do it in less than an hour, you did it with your whole careers worth of knowledge acquisition + 1 hour of implementation. If as you say your steps were a priori obvious and trivially implemented and were at the time that the relevant patent was applied for (or relevant invention made in the US) then the patent is very weak and a citation against it should be easy to find. What appears to be the case is that professionals working in the field for a substantial time were not able to solve the problem easily (eg 2Bdecided's comments). In short you should give yourself more credit. TIL: AVIsynth is a script based video editor.
