In the film industry there seems to be a differentiation between things labelled SciFi (spaceships fighting, laser guns, squids in outer space) and Science Fiction (fictional science enabling the plot).
- amelius 9y agoHow does IMDb make the distinction?
- Toenex 9y agoI don't think it does. For instance I notice The Handmaids Tale - what I'd regard as a science fiction - is currently number 3 in their 'Most Popular Sci-Fi' list between Alien: Covenant at 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 at 4 - both films I'd place firmly in the Sci-Fi category.
