I've looked at this pretty hard and concluded that, inexplicably, it is not an April Fools joke.
- goshx 9y agoI had the same thought when they announced those push buttons for products. Unfortunately, the truth is that pretty soon you will be able to send nudes just using your voice.
- 83457 9y agoAlexa I said send him the good news!
- slackstation 9y agoI laughed for a solid minute on that one.
- Gaelan 9y agoSerious: what's wrong with the buttons?
- goshx 9y agoIt just sounded like a late April joke. It was also released around this time.
- Danihan 9y agoNude Taynes even.
- drusepth 9y agoHaving the button to refresh my cat food/litter every month was absolutely awesome. I already bought the same kind every month on Amazon (they didn't have a subscription offer) so it was always awkward to remember to get back to a computer later to get on Amazon to buy more cat food when I noticed I was low -- being able to push a button to order more right then is surprisingly convenient.
- beachbum8029 9y agoMy first and only use for the button is cat food. :3 Toothpaste is probably next on the list.
- mistermann 9y agoI can easily see this selling like hotcakes. I can see a lot of fashion conscious young people loving a history of what they wore every day.
- trey-jones 9y agoFashion conscious and (irrevocably vain or hopelessly insecure).
- Majestic121 9y agoIt's not more vain than going after the last JS framework or busting your ass in the latest SF startup that's totally going to be a unicorn. You're not the target, and that's ok, but there's no need to be condescending to the one that might be interested
- seanmcdirmid 9y agoYou might be on to something. But the video on the website is really notable to me for using real people (not abnormally attractive women). The clothes also look fairly normal. They seem to be going for some kind of genuineness here.
- SippinLean 9y agoYeah, it already exists in fact: http://lookbook.nu/ http://lookbook.nu/ I wouldn't buy this, but thinking of how many friends seem to have a near-constant Snapchat stream of "what do you think about this hat?" photos makes me think this is going to sell big.
- mavdi 9y agoah kill me already
- 1_2__3 9y agoThere is zero chance of this becoming popular. Zero.
- devy 9y agoSame here. On the flip side, there is a bra-fitting app called "ThirdLove"[1] are doing this kind of computer vision/machine learning AI to help women for years. So Amazon Echo Look is not completely out of the line here. [1]: https://www.thirlove.com https://www.thirlove.com
- J-dawg 9y agoI couldn't help but think of this, from Viz (a puerile but hilarious adult comic book from the UK). https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bm5j-56CYAAZ5GT.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bm5j-56CYAAZ5GT.jpg Also, perhaps appropriately, you missed a 'd' from your link.
- devy 9y agoOops, yep, I missed a 'd' by accident :)
- milesward 9y agoWhat's wild to me is that last year, it was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4l6TwhVAHo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4l6TwhVAHo
- zeptomu 9y agoWow I did not come across this joke last year and now it has been implemented (partly) by their competitors. What a time to be alive.
- rovek 9y agoAs soon as I read a brief description I was checking and double-checking the calendar.
- lpa22 9y agoSame here. In disbelief after reading the product specs, I asked Alexa via my echo dot what the date is, and I can confirm it's not April 1st.
