Was looking at setting up a PiHole to kill ads on my home network anyway - maybe it's time to just get a better router that I can do that on and hook up to my VPN provider in one box. Anyone got any suggestions?
- spinlock 10y agoThis is what I'm thinking. We can't rely on our government to do the right thing so we need to do it ourselves.
- givinguflac 10y agoI've had good luck blocking ads on my Asus RT-AC87U running MerlinWRT. It can block ads by installing AB-solution and also supports VPN both to your network from elsewhere and for routing your entire WAN through VPN if desired. https://www.ab-solution.info https://www.ab-solution.info and http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca
- PTRFRLL 10y ago+1 for MerlinWRT, it's great. Easy to install and let's you do some awesome things vs. stock ASUS firmware. The OpenVPN client is pretty powerful too. Using policy-based routing, you can send some traffic to the VPN and other to your normal WAN.
