Yeah, it's all about the Mario for me. Since the washout that was Super Mario Sunshine they have been brilliant, though I thought SMG2 was a bit hard (as I couldn't finish it!). I still reckon I can remember my run for "Luigi's Purple Coins" in SMG1, and SM 3D World is just a great game, which I completed again in strict course order this year.
- mrschwabe 10y agoSunshine a washout? Sunshine is perhaps the best 3D Mario - especially in HD @ 60FPS.
- stuartd 10y agoI just didn't like it: I went back to it a few times but the whole "stand there squirting that" didn't work for me.
- blkhp19 10y agoYou should give it a shot beyond the first couple bosses (first hour of play?). They kind of make you fight the same boss 3 times back to back, which is kind of a big barrier to entry if you're not into that mechanic. There's a lot more exploration and barely any stand and spray besides much more spread out boss fights after that.
- bananaoomarang 10y agoIt does always seem so divisive. I’m in the ‘enjoyed Galaxy but I think I actually prefer Sunshine’ camp. The new Mario looks really great, too, though.
- bitwize 10y ago"Look, all I'm saying is that this deserves a place on the shelf with the good Mario games, which is all of them! ...except Sunshine, obviously." "What are you talking about? Sunshine's like the best one!"
- shuntress 10y agoThe entire back-half feels like an unfinished rush job. The music is cool and the setting is refreshing. The FLOOD gimmick is fine; it's nice to have some variance in Mario's move-pool. The weird tone can actually be endearing. But it's not enough to make up for the in-intuitive level design and wild difficulty swings. A Mario game is expected to be one thing above all else "Fun Running And Jumping Puzzles" and Sunshine simply doesn't deliver.
- D_Guidi 10y ago> I thought SMG2 was a bit hard (as I couldn't finish it!) same for me, but I admit that for me, as a not-anymore hardcore gamer, SMG was simple an amazing piece of art; awesome in all aspects of gaiming: gameplay, innovation music/art, fun.
