Berkeley cancels scheduled talk by Milo Yiannopoulos
- savethefuture 10y agoWhat a bunch of savages, destroying property and hurting others. These people are out of control.
- HoppedUpMenace 10y ago"These people are out of control" Are you referring to the people in masks or the protesters?
- perfmode 10y agoSuccessful protest. :)
- HoppedUpMenace 10y agoSuccessful is purely subjective. They were "successful" at suppressing free speech is another way to look at it as well. I definitely would not agree with the rhetoric that was going to be spouted by the speaker and protesters have a right to protest. That being said, I believe the protesters are not aware of how their actions have greater implications on future policies that dictate what is fair to say and what isn't to a crowd of listeners.

- tropo 10y agoOn the first day of black history month, a gay Jewish immigrant with a black boyfriend tries to exercise his first amendment right to free speech, oddly attempting to give a speech about free speech. Naturally, at Berkeley the response is to damage the Martin Luther King building, assault a woman for having dared to vote according to her own wishes, and attempt to beat a person to death with a shovel. To enable this, the police are even ordered to stay back and let it happen. Is this really something you want to support?

- jrnichols 10y agoNo, successful thug behavior. Not a protest. This was a riot. I'm ashamed of what has become of Berkeley. I'm so disappointed that this is what it's turned into. Not everyone supports this behavior. This doesn't automatically mean support for Milo either, but rioting to silence him solves nothing. If anything, it only attracts more followers.
- reddytowns 10y agoConsidering the publicity it got Milo, and the negative publicity on Berkeley, I think it had the opposite effect intended.
