I think logic would be something like the following:
Boycotting US goods would affect one of the corner stones of Trump's campaign of bringing back jobs/improving US economy. A poor economy would lead people to eventually tire of Trump antics and his methods eventually leading to voting him ( and possibly those associated with him) out office
- mordant 10y agoThe United States has a large enough internal economy and enough natural resources that it would do just fine without a single penny of import or export of goods or services taking place. Specific oxes would be gored, but it would be a wash, overall.
- dragonwriter 10y agoNo, it wouldn't. Comparstive advantage (and thus, gains in experienced utility from trade) is real.
