Lynching is named after the brother of the man for whom Lynchburg is named.
- 1123581321 10y agoYes, it's an interesting fact. However, the town's name still has nothing to do with the term. Also, Charles was a public official who questionably interpreted existing law to aid the Revolutionary War by jailing British sympathizers. "Lynching" didn't become associated with anti-black vigilante murder until closer to the American Civil War.
