MARS: Replicating Petabytes Over Long Distances [pdf]
- ColanR 10y agoPlease don't link directly to the pdf. It's being treated as a download. :)

- BuuQu9hu 10y agoTell your browser to treat it how you want, not how github wants.
- BuuQu9hu 10y agoIs controlling your own experience rather than being subject to the whims of others really so controversial in 2017?
- grus 10y agoOh shit, is it the current year already? But yeah, it's clearly labeled as a pdf link, and if you don't like your browser's default handling of pdfs, you can just change it. I don't like opening Youtube links in the browser, but I'm not gonna ask people to not post them, it'd be weird.
- aberoham 10y agoMARS looks sweet for the use case where nearby locality of a replica isn't plausible ala DRBD. The documentation is also top notch. Fascinating that sleeper projects such as this one are out there continually improving in spite of not appearing to have much traction outside of their initial sponsor. If only MARS was a drop-in persistent storage option for Docker and Kubernetes..
- senorsmile 10y agoIs there any gain to use this over say ZFS with a script like zxfer* taking snapshots on a schedule and shipping the diffs to a second, third etc. box? * https://github.com/redox-os/redox https://github.com/redox-os/redox
