I'm getting really tired of these click-bait titles.
It should read: "Company in charge of securing voting machines breached after election"
And they should have started the article with: "The U.S. voting process is decentralized and there were no reports of widespread fraud in November."
Fake News: The deliberate attempt to spread false or misleading information.
I am not saying that this is false, it seem's very much true. But it is definitely misleading the reader into thinking the entire election system was breached...until the 2nd the last sentence of the article.
- jokoon 10y agoMaybe, but Reuters is still a top notch news source.
- voidz 10y agoNo, it's not. It's a Clinton/Obama regurgitation outlet.
- Goronmon 10y agoNo, it's not. It's a Trump/Pence regurgitation outlet.
- trendia 10y agoNo it's not. It's a [my political enemy] regurgitation outlet. See: Hostile Media Effect [0], a perceptual theory of mass communication that refers to the tendency for individuals with a strong preexisting attitude on an issue to perceive media coverage as biased against their side and in favor of their antagonists' point of view. Partisans from opposite sides of an issue will tend to find the same coverage to be biased against them. - sschueller 10y agoOne thing we can all agree upon is that Reuters is no longer a trusted or serious news source with clikcbate titles like this.
- voidz 10y agoI'll yield to that.
- js2 10y agothe 2nd the last For future reference: penultimate.
- codeddesign 10y agoyeah..it was an obvious typo "2nd to last"
- js2 10y agoI didn't mean to draw attention to the typo, but rather to point out that there's a word which means "2nd to last." Like "defenestrate", it's a shame not to use it when the situation calls for it. :-)
- judahmeek 10y agoYour attempt to expand my vocabulary is much appreciated. :D
- codeddesign 10y agoMine too, upvote for you ;)
- DoodleBuggy 10y agoSo stop clicking on them? Fake news would be an entirely artificial story similar to tabloid garbage, a headline like "Colombian Chimpanzee Doctor Grows Alien Baby in codeddesigns Brain!" or "codeddesign Takes Control of Hacker News And Shuts It Down!!!"
- mixedCase 10y agoDoes this submission's title look anything like those examples?
