  Yeah I just dropped a comment about this on another thread. There's 8 links on the front page about AWS submitted by the same two people. 19 AWS posts submitted in the past 24 hours. It looks like a concerted shilling effort.

    It's re:Invent: a big Amazon conference where they announce a lot of their new changes. You can find a livestream of the keynote currently going on.

    FWIW those were not submitted by AWS employees (to my knowledge) -- we're not trying to take over HN. (I WORK FOR AMAZON)

    No need to accuse anyone of shilling. When there's a surge like this (as others have pointed out) it typically corresponds to major events like conferences or major releases. Additionally, while this is tied to re:Invent, other situations like this are where I see post A, that leads me to article B, I post it. Now there are two related posts. A dozen people do the same thing, readers of the front page are already primed to be interested in that topic, so we get a bunch of correlated content just by the way HN and social link sharing systems work.

  It's because they have their AWS conference right now, re:Invent. Same thing is happening when Google or Apple has theirs.

This looks like it is Mobile Analytics 2.0[0]: > All the functionality that was previously part Amazon Mobile Analytics is now included in our Amazon Pinpoint service. I'm not quite sure if it is mostly server-side goodness and still uses the mobile analytics parts from the current Mobile SDK[1] or if it requires a new client-side SDK? I like many of the new AWS announcements (shield, lambda@edge, RDS with Postgres, X-ray, Organizations). But I wish they'd be more selective with some things. Pinpoint feels like a bland thing that a ton of companies already offer, and there is nothing about AWS that make them better suited to do this. I'd rather they focus on improving their (often) badly designed APIs, refine the documentation and improve the console UI.
