- amelius 10y ago"... so I connected my laptop to the internet, searched github, and within minutes I found several great implementations" ;)
- acranox 10y agoGitHub in 1996? Ha.
- 0xcde4c3db 10y agoSurely tsx-11 or sunsite would have something, right?
- m45t3r 10y ago"...the majority of them in node.js, so now I need to install 500MB of dependencies to play a simple game of Tetris."
- formula1 10y ago"... I then proceeded to rip out dependencies until I no longer needed to. I put up another one called Tetris-Lite. After a quick search I found that already existed."
- valera_rozuvan 10y agoCheck out https://github.com/mafintosh/tetris https://github.com/mafintosh/tetris . This is a Node.js based Tetris clone, with only 46KB of dependencies. Please provide an example of a Node.js project which downloads 500MB of deps.
- guessmyname 10y agoOne? LOL, here are some that I know require ~600MB of dependencies: - http://rungoterminal.com/ http://rungoterminal.com/ - https://github.com/shockone/black-screen https://github.com/shockone/black-screen - https://github.com/nylas/N1 https://github.com/nylas/N1 And there are hundreds of them, specially if they require Babel which by itself requires a significant amount of disk space, but since you were lazy to find these projects by yourself, I will be lazy too and just list three of them, I will leave the rest to your imagination.
- tomcam 10y agosnap!
- notgood 10y ago"so I looked for python versions, but there were only versions of python 2.7 and my PC has installed python 3.0; after downgrading I realized this version uses the win32api, which doesn't exist in my Mac. After much frustration I went on the internet to ramble about how bad is nodeJS and JavaScript fatigue"
- Overtonwindow 10y agoLOL touché !
- thrownblown 10y ago"... so, keeping mind that this is 1996, I started to connect my Gateway 2000 Pentium Pro to the dial-up internet. After the fax screech, and only within a few hours, I found several great shareware implementations on usenet." ;)
- baldfat 10y agoYeah "shareware" on usenet. People were sharing "shareware".
- taneq 10y agoHey, that's literally why I wrote my Columns clone (and in QBasic, probably in 1996 too!). I'd sold my Sega and wanted to play it. :)
