"Fascism is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism. Fascism opposes liberalism, Marxism and anarchism and is usually placed on the far-right within the traditional left–right spectrum.
Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete, and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature, and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies."
What does that sound like to you? Far-right, encourage violence, strong leadership, protectionism. Obama? HARDLY! Trump in a nutshell!
- hiringmanager 10y agoFirst off, you're linking to wikipedia. All even vaguely political pages on wikipedia have been put thru the hard left censorship test (just like everyone on this site who isn't hard left eventually gets banned) and so it's not authoritative. I mean, by your argument the Nazis were not fascist! Do you realize that Nazi is slang for Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party? They were marxist to their core. Tacking "far right" onto the definition is the lefts way of evading responsibility for advocating fascist policies by changing the definition. Just like you guys are trying to change the definition of "racism" so that racism against whites is not racism. (same with sexism against men) As for encouraging violence, authoritarianism (which is more precise than "strong leadership") and protectionism-- that is exactly Obama. After all he has been sending thugs to Trump rallies for the past year to beat people up. Like he did to the town halls for Obamacare etc. etc. He's protectionist on labor and other key resources, etc. I'm not defending Trump, I'm saying he's the lesser of two evils, and you guys are redefining "evil" to ignore how profoundly evil your candidate is.
