Point is you should be able to purchase good tickets primarily and not from resale. Add to the conversation the outrageous fees charged for the tickets by Ticketmaster and the likes... it is pretty bad right now and it has to change.
- pbreit 10y agoFor the hottest event on the planet? And the fees actually aren't that outrageous when you're seeing the tickets being resold for 2-10x face.
- Dylan16807 10y agoThe hotness of the event does not change that when resellers make a profit, they do it without providing value to anyone.
- xivzgrev 10y agoThey do provide value to those people who buy their tickets. Like uber 10x surge they guarantee inventory during tight supply but you goina pay!!
- Dylan16807 10y agoThere is no value in having a middleman in that process. They actually make it harder for ticket buyer and ticket seller to meet, unlike your typical middleman. Uber is a perfect example of why no middleman is needed.
- pitt1980 10y agoI'm not actually sure that there's that big a markup over all the tickets sold Most of the big mark up tickets are bought from season ticket packages, which include plenty of dud games that can only be resold at a loss Averaged over all the games, whatever markup realize can probably be accounted for as taking risk of not selling tickets off the primary sellers (the teams) (especially the hard to sell games on Wednesdays in January when the team isn't the best team in the league)
- icebraining 10y agoThe idea of surge pricing is actually to convince more drivers to take rides, increasing the supply, unlike these resellers.
- tamana 10y agoThat's only half the idea. High prices induce ticket holders to sell, which does free up supply.
- goshx 10y agoYou do realize that when you see the ticket being resold for 2-10x face value it is already too late to even consider the fees, right?
